Leaders of Change Initiatives on Community Development (LCICD) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded by Environmental Health and Safety Officers with an aim to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of communities. We focus on uplifting communities and wee are committed to advancing health, safety, wellness, and sustainable development through impactful programs and advocacy.

Through education, advocacy, and community-based initiatives, we empower individuals and groups to take action towards healthier, safer, and more sustainable societies.

At Leaders of Change, we see ourselves not just as advocates, but as partners in transformation, walking alongside communities to create opportunities for growth, resilience, and dignity.

Nthabiseng Victoria Makhaba

Co-Founder / MD

Nthabiseng Makhaba is an Environmental Health and Safety Officer with a deep commitment to advancing mental health, social change, and sustainable development. By profession, she safeguards workplace health and safety, by nature,
she is a humanitarian and storyteller driven by empathy, compassion, and impact.

Her humanitarian journey began at a young age as Lesotho Girl Guide’s Youth Leader and active member of the Lesotho Red Cross Society, experiences that nurtured her passion for service and inspired her to co-found Leaders of Change Initiatives on Community Development (LCICD). Through this NGO, she works to protect and promote the health and well-being of communities while amplifying voices for positive transformation.

Nthabiseng’s advocacy is deeply rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular focus on:

SDG 13: Climate Action Passionate about women and youth empowerment, Nthabiseng believes in creating
safe, inclusive spaces where people can thrive, heal, and lead. Her vision is to connect with like-minded changemakers — especially women — to build initiatives that uplift communities, foster resilience, and drive meaningful social change.

Itumeleng Nthako holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. She is committed to building inclusive spaces where all people—particularly those from underrepresented communities—are seen, heard, and given fair opportunities to contribute to national development.

Her work is guided by the belief that no individual should be limited by their background, appearance, or circumstances of birth. She advocates for equity across sectors that shape society and is deeply invested in environmental protection, climate action, and mental health awareness.

With a strong sense of responsibility toward future generations, Itumeleng is dedicated to safeguarding the planet’s ecosystems—animals, plants, and natural resources—while advancing sustainable and people-centered solutions that support both human and environmental well-being.

Adv. Thabelo Grace Nqhae is the Founder of Enlightened Legal Solutions, a law firm comprising four lawyers and a secretary. She is a respected legal practitioner who represents policyholders in court through her work with Alliance Legal. Beyond litigation, she is deeply committed to public legal education, regularly engaging communities through radio platforms such as Bokamoso FM and PMR FM, where she simplifies the law and empowers citizens with legal knowledge.

Matseliso Ratau is a Registered Nurse–Midwife, Primary Health Care Nursing and Nursing Education specialist, and a public health professional holding a Master’s degree in Public Health. She is the Founder of Endless Empowerment, a youth- and community-led organization, and the CEO of Absolute Trading (Pty) Ltd. Her work is rooted in strengthening community health systems and advancing sustainable development through evidence-based and people-centered approaches.

She is passionate about nurturing emotional resilience, reducing stigma, and encouraging positive engagement with mental health care.

SAAPA LESOTHO

SAAPA Lesotho is part of a regional civil society network working to advance evidence-based alcohol policy and regulation across Southern Africa. We collaborate with SAAPA Lesotho on advocacy and awareness initiatives aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, focusing on reducing alcohol-related harm, promoting public health, and supporting policy approaches that protect communities and strengthen well-being.

Maleah Foundation empowers adolescent girls and young women by addressing menstrual health, education, gender-based violence, and inequality. YOUNG WOMEN OF AFRICA

Young Women of Africa (YWOA) is a continental movement empowering young African women through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration across African countries. We have collaborated with YWOA through knowledge-sharing and speaking engagements, particularly on the Sustainable Development Goals, with strong alignment to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. These collaborations have focused on amplifying youth voices, strengthening regional dialogue, and advancing inclusive development across Africa.
